Meet the Bay Respiratory Team
In October this year, the three respiratory teams in Lancaster, Barrow and South Lakes joined forces to become the Bay Respiratory Team.
The teams came together to increase peer support and to make care the very best for people across the bay who are suffering from long-term respiratory conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, interstitial lung disease and bronchiectasis.
As part of the Morecambe Bay Respiratory Network, the cross-bay team has regular operational, best practice and multi-disciplinary meetings, which give them the opportunity to raise any issues, discuss complex cases, share ideas and learn from each other. Another aim of this new way of working is to reduce outpatient appointments and hospital admissions.
Alison Brenton, Senior Respiratory Occupational Therapist for South Lakes, said: “Before we started the new way of working, we all worked in our particular areas and didn’t have the opportunity to see each other as much. It’s a great opportunity to share – it really has improved our communication as a team.
