Clinical Executive Officer

I am Clinical Executive Officer of the North Lancashire Federation Board, a GP Partner at Lancaster Medical Practice, Representative on the Morecambe Bay Local Medical Committee for Lancaster and also, Clinical Director of General Practice Development for Bay Health and Care Partners.

My role for the Federation has evolved significantly since I helped to set it up in 2014. I have been given a mandate by all constituent practices to represent local General Practice within the local health economy. As a Clinical Leader in the evolving Accountable Care System for Morecambe Bay I have a role in developing General Practice in the context of the wider system transformation.

I am passionate about creating strong, sustainable General Practice which supports the people of Morecambe Bay to live well. I firmly believe that collaboration is the key to delivering this. I hope that through the work we have undertaken so far, I have earned the trust of my GP colleagues as their representative, and developed the Federation as a support structure for our practices.

I have worked for 20 years and continue to work as GP partner in Bay Medical Group in Morecambe and well as being a partner I am also a GP trainer and appraiser.

Having had the honour of being elected as GP CCG executive by the local GP community three years ago my areas of responsibility in the CCG have been for Quality, finance and performance, workforce and medicine’s optimisation. In covering these roles I have had to attend and chair the Joint quality meetings between Cumbria CCG and University hospitals Morecambe Bay at a time when we have had the acute trust under close scrutiny both from the CQC and the Kirkup inquiry. I feel that in my quality role working closely with the CCG Chief Nurse and quality team we have been able to work towards assuring the local health system and our patients that our Acute hospital services have continued to improve towards providing quality services for all our patients.

I am in no doubt that the NHS and General Practice are going to face quite difficult times both in terms of the system changes we need to engage in to address the challenges of an ageing patient population with multi morbidity as well as the financial challenges we will face in the next 2-5 years as a health system. However I feel the experience I have gathered and the good working relationships I have developed with all colleagues in the health system as a GP Partner and as a CCG GP Executive over the last years few means I have the knowledge, skills and experience required to continue to work towards ensuring we have the very best healthcare system for our patients and our families in our locality.

Director of Operations

I am the Executive Manager of the North Lancashire GP Federation and my management skills were gained over the past several years in previous roles, working at local and regional level for Clinical Networks and the NHS England Area Team.

Whilst my clinical career as a physiologist was mainly based in acute, tertiary centre settings, I now find myself more at home in General Practice where I find we can make transformational changes at pace, gather momentum for collaboration and work well both as independent practices and also within a Federative model.

I am now dedicated to improving and supporting a sustainable General Practice in the locality of Lancashire North where I hope to remain settled and to bring valuable contributions to the development and success of our Federation.

Executive Manager

I am a General Manager with the North Lancashire Federation and also the Head of Medicines Optimisation with NHS Morecambe Bay Clinical Commissioning Group.

My role with the Federation is to support the GP Directors and members across a range of transformational projects representing primary care at scale within the Morecambe Bay Accountable Care system. As a pharmacist and senior manager with over 10 years’ experience in NHS commissioning roles I am able to actively support our GPs and other clinicians in taking forward our collective vision for Morecambe Bay.

I am an eternal optimist and believe that together we can build a local Health and Care system that will be revolutionary and fully utilise the skills and experience of all our clinicians to transform the lives and health outcomes of the population we serve.
